In today’s social media-obsessed world, people are anxious and depressed more than ever. Instead of having a hobby like reading a book or a blog (wink), so many young and old people, treat social media like it’s a hobby. This may be fine for some people but I know others are struggling. In this post, I want to explore two helpful self-care practices: deep breathing and positive thinking. Both tools can help ground us during stressful times and foster a greater sense of peace, balance, and happiness.
Section 1: Deep breathing– Deep breathing can help stabilize the nervous system, thus creating a sense of calm.
Breath in through your nose for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 7 seconds, now exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds, making a whoosh sound
Section 2: Self- Care-reading I look at self-care as a way to comfort your soul and take care of our emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Self-care is about intentionally setting time aside to take care of yourself, by relaxing, reading a book Ata coffee shop, taking a trip to your favorite store or spending time with friends.
Section 3: Practice Gratitude– When negative thoughts come into your mind telling you that your life is terrible or that you are unworthy, tell yourself the opposite, tell yourself that you’re life is worth living and you are loved.
Self-care is an ongoing journey, and incorporating practices like deep breathing and positive thinking can make a significant difference in your mental and emotional well-being. By taking small, intentional steps to care for yourself, you’ll find that you’re better equipped to handle life’s challenges with resilience. So start today by taking a deep breath and think a positive thought. You deserve it.
